This is a photograph from a book called ‘Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography ins America” (pub. 2004). The photo is called ‘The lynching of Frank Embree, July 22, 1899, Fayette, MO”

By all reckoning, that makes this barely 113 years old.

There are two other matching photos to the set. The one below, and the one of him hanging, which is too upsetting to post. You can see it (along with others from much later time periods here: http://chnm.gmu.edu/courses/omalley/race/four.html)

…No group in the world has had more money spent on it to have its genetics examined, its fecundity stopped, its intelligence measured. (Who are these people who know our sperm count but not our names?) Yet despite years, despite decades of such academic energy, there is very little scholarly recognition that a major part of American history is the history of black people: how they influenced whites and how whites influenced them. There are very few examinations of U.S. economics as the growth of a country that had generations of free labor to assure that growth. Or of the legal history of this country as primarily the efforts of the courts to contain blacks. Nor is there much notice paid to the fact that anthropology is pretty much limited to the study of the black peoples of the world. Not only are white historians and social scientists un-interested in examining their own poor, they seem never to consider directing their probes to the incidents of incest or bastardy among the rich.

Angola Prison (Louisiana State Penitentiary)

liquornspice:

I was curious so I started reading the wiki page. To no one’s surprise, Angola prison used to be a plantation and still is:

Angola is still operated as a working farm; Warden Burl Cain once said that the key to running a peaceful maximum security prison was that “you’ve got to keep…

Black history is taught like this: you started off as a slave, then white people felt bad and decided to free you, then civil rights legislation made you equal, and finally you achieved victory with Obama’s election. The end. Of course, that is ridiculous. That is the White Supremacist version of black history. The end result of this mis-education is that black children are separated from their own people’s legacy and historical achievements.

Everybody in the world has the right to draw inspiration from their own people’s legacy, and this right is robbed from black children because their history is actively hidden, distorted, and replaced with make-believe.

Religious belief and imperialistic agendas go hand-in-hand. In order to break the cycle of ecclesiastical enslavement, one must be willing to challenge the status quo, particularly in areas pertaining to psychological bondage. As long as religion exists, there will be fear, powerlessness, dependency, separatism, imperialism and delusion. Until we (the conquered) understand how we arrived at where we are in terms of our beliefs and how our beliefs perpetuate social impotence, we will continue to be the bottom-feeders of the world. There is no divine plan behind the equation of conqueror over conquered. The meek have not inherited anything and the last have not finished first.

[The sex worker "abolition" movement is colonialism, you guys. Do not trust Ashton Kutcher.]

Suspected Racist woman true to form…mistreating non-white females on the basis of color.  This is what so-called charity looks like under Racism (White Supremacy).

Also, the term “Racist (White Supremacist)” is more accurate to describe what’s going on here rather than the term “colonialism”.

PUNJAMMIES™ are made by women in India rescued from forced prostitution seeking to rebuild their lives. Proceeds from the sales of PUNJAMMIES™ provide fair-trade wages, savings accounts, and holistic recovery care.

Oh my god this is gross this is really exploitative.

The operation was started by a lady named Shannon Keith who “went on a life-changing trip to India” in 2005, and none of the women who have been “rescued” hold any position higher up in the chain of command other than a factory worker, it appears. These women are “given” savings accounts and money in exchange for their work, but I don’t see anything about the “spiritual, emotional, and physical resources for healing” including basic financial literacy or any other skill that will enable the women to leave their job at the factory.

Also, if you send the organization donations, none of the money goes to the workers.

If you see rich, white people claiming to “rescue” brown “sex slaves” by making them work in a factory you should probably not give them any money.

Nonviolence declares that the American Indians could have fought off Columbus, George Washington, and all the other genocidal butchers with sit-ins; that Crazy Horse, by using violent resistance, became part of the cycle of violence, and “as bad as” Custer. Nonviolence declares that Africans could have stopped the slave trade with hunger strikes and petitions, and that those who mutinied were as bad as their captors; that mutiny, a form of violence, led to more violence, and thus, resistance led to more enslavement. Nonviolence refuses to recognize that it can only work for privileged people, who have a status protected by violence, as the perpetrators and beneficiaries of a violent hierarchy.

-Peter Gelderloos, Why Nonviolence Protects the State - Nonviolence is Racist  (via rosadefuego)

CodeLens Note: The author of the book referenced above is a Racist Suspect and a so-called anarchist.

Does the promotion of violence, from people who classify themselves as white,  protect the System of Racism (White Supremacy)? When a so-called anarchist, who classifies himself as white, risks prison due to violent acts are the risks the same as when a non-white person does so?

Tacky, Trashy, and Terroristic: A Conversation With Suspected Racists

Victims of Racism, you should come to expect Racist Man and Racist Woman will attempt to demean you and other non-white in your pursuit of Justice.  They will throw out labels like “pseudoscience” when any non-white person attempts to examine closely their Racist (White Supremacist) genocidal rampages.  Anything that doesn’t fit into a Eurocentric or White-identified construct is fake, un-worthy, or value-less.  During the earlier stages of Racism (White Supremacy), Racists (White Supremacists) just came out and labeled anything they themselves didn’t examine as “nigger-science”.  I see not much has changed.

For the record, a psychopath is, “a person afflicted with a personality disorder characterized by a tendency to commit antisocial and sometimes violent acts and a failure to feel guilt for such acts.” [1]  That, in my estimation, is an accurate description of a Racist (White Supremacist) currently and throughout their history.  Still think Dr. Wright was off the mark?  Again, take note of my words exactly.  I used the terms Racists (White Supremacists) or Racist Man and Racist Woman.  And people, who I suspect classify themselves as White, continue to defend this particular category of White people which reveals how they think about themselves.  Thanks for the heads up.

When you challenge Racist Man and Racist Woman, you can expect trashy insults and terroristic behavior as you’ve no doubt read below.  Here we have people who crawled out from who knows where, found my blog attempting to spread blatant lies (not even well-thought out or researched), and who only seek to defend the indefensible—Racism (White Supremacy).  It’s to be expected under a system of Racism (White Supremacy).

Much of what keeps this system going, is the ability for White Supremacists to first use words to confuse victims and/or intimidate them.  If that doesn’t work, they move right to direct violence.  But stay focused.  Once you see through the deception, a key part of the system is weakened. For an example, just review below the typical weak and pathetic arguments where they seek to diminish the role of slavery in the establishment of so-called White civilization.  No logical response to the illogical argument I pointed out, just a strange and childish, all-caps “alert” for so-called pseudoscience.  Okay, these people make my case for me.  Just more attempts to derail any valid arguments by engaging in petty name-calling and other anti-social behaviors.

People, who classify themselves as white, constructed Race to practice Race-ism.  There is really no justifiable reason for Race to exist.  People, who classify themselves as White, have yet to come to terms with this.  Instead, you get Suspected Racists doing their best to hold their terroristic history up as an achievement and not the horror-show that it has been.

The problems of so-called Africa can be laid at the feet of Racists (White Supremacists) who still run the show there and everywhere else.  When it comes to Race and the negative societal effects it produces, white people are the problem.  So instead of trolling around the net looking to engage in Racist (White Supremacist) behavior, people who classify themselves as white should be asking themselves, as Dr. Robert Jenson suggested, “How does it feel to be a problem?”.  It is only then people who classify themselves as white can have any constructive impact on the elimination of the system they created.

WEEEE-OOOOO WEEEE-OOOOO PSEUDOSCIENCE ALERT

I wonder who this Dr. Bobby Wright could be? Let me just Goog—oh, the second result is some weird black separatist site, this is going to be…

Funny you should bring up the apologist ‘Africans sold their own people into slavery’ trope, as it was just being discussed. Please, enjoy this link.

Did you actually read “The Psychopathic Racial Personality?” …Or are you relying on a condensed second-hand summary and a sigular quote, then extrapolating Dr. Wright’s argument in such a way that makes it easy to dismiss him as a loony “black separatist” or some kind of anti-white eugenicist?

Wright wasn’t the first, nor will he be the last, person to speculate about what it means that white Christian societies invented the very concept of race and racist hierarcy (which situated them at the top) and then implemented what is a still-ongoing campaign of racial oppression. Does this NOT say something about the ethics and morals inherent in white Christian society?

I think it’s unfair and, frankly, a dishonest engagement with the text to pretend as though Wright was making some kind of a reverse-racist “pseudoscientific” argument, given the context in which it was written. (1947) He was purposefully doing something white/Western society wasn’t (still isn’t) used to experiencing: having the critical anthropological lens turned back on themselves and their culture/society.

Their own people? No, that’s an absurd revision. One tribe is not another tribe’s “own people”, and to read it like that would be like asking why the Nazis killed off Jews and Slavs since all three groups are white. Ingroups and outgroups change.

Also, you probably shouldn’t say things that can be refuted by a quick trip to Wikipedia. (Hierarchies involving physical characteristics were first constructed by white Christians? Really? Looks to me like the Egyptians got there first.) Of course, the Hebrew Bible (NB: this is the thing common to Judaism and Christianity, so it is not a Christian invention!) was used to justify racism, but the necessary essentialism originated in ancient Greek philosophy.

It is pseudoscientific to use scientific terms in a manner that is not justified by the science. However, the thesis that people care much more about ingroup members than outgroup members is pretty much undeniable, so.

Racism (White Supremacy) is a business and just like any business it operates on profits and losses.  Racists (White Supremacists) in addition to exhibiting Psychopathic Racial Personality Disorder (Dr. Bobby Wright) are also shrewd business men and women.  They certainly wouldn’t have created and maintained a market for 400 years if the profits weren’t considerable and the losses minimal (in comparison to the gains).  To pretend the terrorizing of Black people for centuries and the commodification of black bodies (which still continues) were not the most important factors of both the rise of so-called capitalism and the considerable wealth of predominately White so-called countries is either intellectually dishonest or just plain ignorant.

Victims of Racism who are reading this entry should take note that the respondent below (no belgium-no problem) aligned him/herself with Racist (White Supremacist) terrorists by using the pronoun ‘we’. It is highly likely that he/she is also a Racist.  Since Racists (White Supremacists) are masters of deceit (their reign of terror depends on it), anything they assert should be questioned intently and viewed suspiciously.  Nothing they say should be taken at face value.

no-belgium-no-problem:

codelens:

Another codified response to the racist assertion, “Africans sold other Africans.”  This is a white supremacist (racist) attempt to absolve people classified as white from their terrorism of taking people against their will for lifelong servitude.

There was never any need- if we went in, we lost time, money, and men to the climate. Sickness and disease would’ve killed us off. Which is exactly why we sold weapons and gold to African kings to go on raiding parties and capture other tribes men- or just buy off his own “stock”.

The African continent was bled of its human resources via all possible routes. Across the Sahara, through the Red Sea, from the Indian Ocean ports and across the Atlantic. At least ten centuries of slavery for the benefit of the Muslim countries (from the ninth to the nineteenth).

Four million slaves exported via the Red Sea, another four million through the Swahili ports of the Indian Ocean, perhaps as many as nine million along the trans-Saharan caravan route, and eleven to twenty million (depending on the author) across the Atlantic Ocean.

Racial stereotypes are a part of a belief system deeply embedded in American culture that is premised on the superiority of whites and the inferiority of Blacks. A pattern of oppositional categories associates whites with positive characteristics (industrious, intelligent, responsible), while associating Blacks with the opposite aberrational qualities (lazy, ignorant, shiftless). Negative images of African Americans are displayed in the media and reinforced by institutions in which Blacks hold a position of disadvantage. So, for example, the stereotype that Black people are predisposed to law breaking and violence is broadcast in the media’s preoccupation with stories involving Black criminals. The belief that most criminal activity is committed by Blacks is then reinforced by the mass incarceration of young Black men and women. Similarly, the stereotype that Black people are lazy and prefer being dependent on government handouts is perpetuated by the media’s portrayal of welfare recipients as almost exclusively Black and by barriers to equal participation in the economy. These negative stereotypes, in turn, legitimate punitive policies that imprison and impoverish more Blacks, entrenching further their inferior social status. The images of Blacks as crime-prone and lazy affects more than those who are locked up in prison or welfare reliant. These images redound on the perceived character and opportunities of all Black people. They place Black individuals, regardless of their personal character, at greater risk of being stopped by the police and being turned down for a job.

The racial disparity in the child welfare system works the same way. A child welfare system that takes Black children from their parents at twice the rate of whites sends a negative message about Black families. It says that Black parents are unfit to raise their children and that Black children are better off in the state’s custody. It reinforces long-held stereotypes about Black mothers’ and fathers’ irresponsibility and corrupting influence on their children. It replicates the notion created in chattel slavery that there is no such thing as a Black family. In fact, placing so many Black children in the state’s custody implements the quintessential racial insult — that Black people are incapable of governing themselves and need white supervision.
